Ernest was one of my first anime loves and so I decided I wanted to run his fanlisting because he's got a lot of meaning to me.

Ernest is a quiet, complex character who comes across as first being the pretty, perfect boy who is always polite. And while Ernest is very polite, he's a lot more than that. His EX gives him the ability to read people's emotions and possibly to some extent their thoughts. Because of this, Ernest is a very torn individual. He hates feeling isolated from other people because of his abilities and being seen as a freak. At the same time, he longs to be left alone and cut off from what he feels from other people.

The person he cares most about in the world is Gareas, who is quite the opposite of Ernest on the outside. Brash, loud, and easygoing, Gareas befriended Ernest and accepts him at face value. On the inside, Gareas and Ernest share a lot of pain and Ernest knows this because he can feel it.

What pushed me over the edge to really loving Ernest is his death. Gareas is stupid, heads out impetuously, and Ernest sacrifices his own life to go save him. The devotion and love present between the two touched me a lot, and yes, I cried.
